Individual Therapy and Marriage Therapy for Physicians And Their Spouses
Does Any of This Sound Familiar?
When the Demands Of Medicine Feel Unsustainable For Both Physicians And Their Spouses.
-
You give everything at work, and by the time you get home there’s nothing left. You may be wondering how long you can keep going like this, and what it’s costing the people you love.
-
You hold the household together through the long shifts, the call nights, and the career moves. Somewhere along the way, your own needs got pushed to the side, and it’s hard to say so without feeling guilty.
-
The conversations have turned into logistics. The arguments go in circles, or the silence has grown. You haven’t given up, but you aren’t sure how to find your way back to each other.
-
If one of you is leaning out of the marriage and the other wants to save it, you need a different kind of help than traditional couples therapy. Discernment Counseling was created for exactly this moment.
Therapy From Someone Who Knows Life in Medicine From the Inside
Most therapists simply don’t know what a life in medicine demands. They don’t see the toll on the physician, who is running on empty after years of training, unpredictable hours, and the weight of patient care. They don’t see the toll on the spouse, who moves across the country, holds the household together, and puts their own needs on hold. And they don’t see the toll on the marriage, where the physician’s career quietly becomes the center of everything. If you’ve ever spent a therapy session explaining your life instead of getting help with it, you know the difference.
I’ve been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2006, and I’ve been married to a physician for more than two decades. My husband and I met in college and have walked the medical journey together, through training and several cross-country moves. I know this life professionally and personally, so you won’t have to spend your sessions explaining it to me.
I work with:
Physicians, residents, fellows, and other medical professionals in individual therapy
Spouses of physicians, including husbands of women physicians
Physician couples, including marriages where both partners are physicians
Couples who are deciding whether or not to stay married

A confidential space to work through burnout, anxiety, grief, resentment, identity, and the personal toll of medical life.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

Marriage Therapy for Physicians
Weekly sessions that help you understand your patterns, repair hurt, and rebuild connection, using the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and other evidence-based approaches.
Marriage Therapy Intensives
Extended sessions for couples who want meaningful progress quickly or whose schedules make weekly therapy impossible.

I’m Noël.
I believe physicians and their spouses deserve compassionate and confidential therapy.
You are not alone.
I meet my clients without judgment, wherever they are. As a therapist and a trauma survivor myself, I know how much it matters to trust the person you’re talking to. I bring warmth and a sense of humor into the room, and I take the time to understand how you arrived where you are today. From there, our work is focused and goal-directed: together, we’ll identify what you want to change and work toward it with a clear plan, rather than talking in circles week after week.
My clinical training includes the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Relational Life Therapy, Discernment Counseling, Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy. I also previously served as a clinical director in inpatient and intensive outpatient settings. My husband and I live in the Dallas–Fort Worth area with our two sons.

My practice is built for physicians, their spouses, and physician couples. I also see residents, fellows, and other medical professionals for individual therapy including dentists.
-
Yes. Therapy is confidential, with the limited legal exceptions that apply to every licensed therapist, which I review with you at the start. Because I’m private pay, nothing is billed to your insurance.
-
Yes. Because sessions are virtual, partners can join from separate locations when needed.

You can begin with individual therapy. Change in one partner often shifts the whole relationship, and many spouses join later.
